As a field, TESOL has been strongly influenced in the last 50 years by Chomskyan approaches to Linguistics. Few practicing teachers have had the opportunity to consider the implications of cognitive approaches to the field of Second Language Acquisition, and this presentation will contrast them and offer practical implications for teaching.
