Early in my teaching career, I remember a student asking me "What is the difference between PERSUADE and CONSIDER?  Are they the same?"  Because of advances in corpus linguistics, how I answered that question then and how I would answer it in 2018 are very different.  In today's talk, we'll look at what corpus linguistics is and how this can (and should) be a valuable resource for every teacher regardless of what subject your teach.
